you must grow BIG deer where you hunt! A pocket full of those slugs and you'll have to reinforce your tee stand! I have had very good luck with regular 240 grain 44 slugs on deer out to 100 yards.A ruger sbh topped by a 4x leupold cast or jacketed doesn't matter IF I do my part.

i use them.  i used to use them exclusively, but i decided that a 255 grain semi wad cutter at 1100fps would do everything i needed with less recoil.  i still have a bunch and they do shoot well

As others have already stated, you could likely get by just fine with a smaller pill and save on lead as well!

I've been shooting the Keith 250/swc in handloads for many years in a 624 .44 spl plodding along at 1050 fps.

21 deer and two hogs later I've only recovered on bullet from game, this bullet travelled lengthwise through a big doe at just over 100 yds and stopped under the skin on the off-side ham. With your bullet, I think the slug would have kept on going!

Main thing is an accurate load that you have confidence in. Cast-bullet loads may not kill as quickly as hollowpoints but they will generally shoot clean through at any angle. Same principle used when hunting heavy-boned game in Africa.

The slug you pictured is given the regard as being very accurate. With the right load it is capable of taking anything in N. America and likely Africa as well. Poor deer!

I couldn't help but like the design cause it reminds me of the LBT bullets.
Highly accurate with a big meplat that will make cookie cutter holes for sure.

I have been shooting a 300gr C-P lfn lbt style bullet out of my rugers bisley and redhawk both in 45 colt the 300gr will keep 10 shots under 2" at 50yds at 1000-1100fps  I am going to get the lee mold in 255 rf and the 300 rf to try out when I start casting

I have successfully used bull-x 250 grain in my ruger sa in 45 long colt. Took a nice white tail through the front shoulders, through and through penetration. One shot one kill. Cast bullets are effective and economical. I make my own now, even more fun and more economical.

I have tried many bullets from 240-250 cast Keith style, jacketed, etc., and the most accurate load for me from my 7.5 inch SBH is the Cast Performance LBT 320 grain LWNGC over 21 grains of WW296. Clocks close to 1300 fps with no pressure signs and shoots an inch or less from 50 yards.....this year, one shot, one kill, at 97 lazered yards.....works for me.
