« on: February 16, 2006, 01:07:01 PM »
Hey guys I am shooting the 375H&H in my Encore and love the cartridge great round. My question is what set of dies do I get from RCBS to start reloading. Do I get full length or just neck sizing any help will be appreciated.  Thanx

.375 H&H Mag.

I generally just neck size for .375 H&H Mag. with Lee Collet dies on an RCBS press.  After several neck sizings, you may find the action closes with slight difficulty; at that point it's time for a full length resize.

Grumulkin I have a set of LEE collet dies someone gave me but I can't get the bullet to be held tight after i run it through  the die. What am I doing wron. I ran the brass through the first die like the instructions said but than when I run it through the second die the bullet is not held in place by really any pressure at all I can move the bullet up and down or pull it out of the brass with my fingers

I full length size every time. I have been reloading for 30 years and never owned nick sizing dies.  :D

Collet Dies

Adjust the collet die so when the press comes up the shell holder presses on the part of the die that extends out the bottom.  The amount of pressure applied there determines how tight the neck will be.

For some reason, when I seated Barns Triple Shock bullets (but not bullets without the multiple grooves), they tended to be loose in my .375 H&H Mag. cases (but not in some other cases I load).  I solved that problem with a Lee Factory Crimp die.

If increasing the press ram pressure doesn't solve your problem, your die may be broken.  I really like the no lube capability of Lee Collet dies so using them is worth it to me.  I've been reloading for 40 years and own a bunch of them.

If you're hunting with it, be sure that every round chambers reliably before you go to the field. Other than that, either method will work.

Because of the taper of the H&H case, a FL die that is backed off of the shoulder is for all intents and purposes a neck die. Just make sure the de-capper, expander spindle is centered and the FL die will do all you need. The only reason I can see for a neck die (in .375 H&H) is so you don't have to lube the cases. I have neck dies for every other case I load but not the H&H.
