New York Bill Controls Ammunition Sales

New York lawmakers have introduced a bill to put severe restrictions on ammunition sales.

Members of the Assembly Rules Committee recently introduced AB 9083. It requires retailers to remove ammunition from displays and store it in locations accessible only to employees, similar to controlled substances like pharmaceuticals or tobacco products. Customers would be prevented from browsing and comparing brands and loads.

Assembly Bill 9083 is strikingly similar to a California bill that was recently vetoed. The U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance joined the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and other organizations in urging the October 7, 2005 veto of California's AB 996.

Claims that such legislation is necessary to prevent ammunition theft are unfounded. According to NSSF senior vice president and general counsel Lawrence Keane, ammunition theft from retail establishments is not a significant problem.

The New York bill awaits debate in the Assembly Codes Committee.

Take Action! New York sportsmen should ask their Assembly members to oppose AB 9083. Explain that ammunition theft from retailers is not a contributing factor to gun violence. To contact your state assemblyman, call (518) 455-4218 or use the Legislative Action Center at http://www.ussportsmen.org

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

Please just remember that this is but one of six dumb bills sheldon silver has gotten pushed through the neu yawk state ass-embly of idiots and that doesn't mean a darn thing until or if it is passed by the Senate and signed into law by the governor.  And by the way, although we do have some idiot state senators they are not in the majority and few of silver's anti-gun bills ever get through the senate and fewer yet have ever even reached the governor's desk for signature.

Believe it or not, Pataki has gotten burned by some of these anti-gun/crime bills that have come through the assembly and takes a wary eye toward anything silver has sent up.  One of those major burns is that ballistic identification bill - he listened to that idiot (silver), signed it and has been burned ever since for creating an expensive, totally unproductive requirement.  I doubt he will do that again.  JMHO.  Mikey.
