South African .308 and NEF Survivor

I'm 3 days away from picking up my new Survivor .308.
I've got two 'battle packs' of South African .308 (marked 7.62x51).

You must have ordered almost the same day I did. I am Waiting on a 308 Survivor as well from Walmart. Ill be curious about this ammo. What was the price of it?

Milsurp ammunition in an NEF

The South African ammunition is very good stuff.I have shot it in several of my milsurp rifles.Be aware that the NEF warranty is deemed void if milsurp ammunition is used in their rifles.There is a disclaimer in the boxes with their new rifles I am told.

I had some problems with the mil surplus ammo sticking in my Survivor .308 heavy barrel.  It would not eject after it was fired.  I changed over to winchester brass, and have never had a problem since.  The mil surplus brass is so hard, I can not even run it through my resizing die.
Save yourself the aggrivation, and stay away from the mil surplus for a handi.  My brother in law has a bolt action that it cycles through without issue, but not in a handi.

I had the same issue as varmitbob.   Now I can't tell you for sure whether it was the switching to Remington ammo, or just spinning a wire brush in the chamber that fixed the sticking cases, but I know I've never had a Rem. case stick in my 308 Survivor.

The South African stuff shot great groups, just the sticking issue was driving we crazy, so I stopped using it.  For the price, I might pick up a box and see if the brush fixed the issue.

I've shot many S. African in my Survivor .308.  Accuracy was poor - 3"-4" moa, with many stick cases.

Even in my bolt action Howa varmint accuracy was the same, with no extraction problems of corse.  And this rifle soots Winchester power points 1/2" moa or better.
 
The Israeli .308 you that you would find at ammunitionstore shoot litle bit better, with no stuck cases at all.
