Southern California Hunting
« on: October 20, 2005, 06:27:21 AM »
What (where?) is an inexpensive way to hunt live small animals (in contrast to paper punching) without going to another state or even without going up north. I don't care if it's squirrels, feral pigs/boar, prairie dogs, etc.

TIA

The best available public land hunting in So Cal is for bird hunting in the fall and early winter months. Dove, quail, waterfowl, chukkar partridge hunting is reasonably good on public access land. Deer hunting can be done but it's pretty tough hunting on public land but some deer are bagged. You can also go out to the dessert for coyote and bobcat. There are some Dept of Fish and Game fields where pheasant are planted.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

Very good Val, lots of good hunting in southern California. If you're new to that part of the state, you just have to do a little investigating. By the way, southern California has some great bear hunting to be had. Art2africe, no prairie dogs in California, but tons of ground squirrels. Now is the time to go get em.
