Hey I am new to the 1894. I have a 44 mag and am wondering what your insights for hunting and shooting are. My dad is a Marlin Geek and almost had his first heart attack when I bought it.  I know the range limitations but otherwise this feels like an excellant rifle.
Thanks.

I shoot a 357 1894C myself. Same style rifle, just less punch.

Your rifle will serve you just fine on deer, and even bear as long as you keep your ranges within reason. I regularly kill deer with my 357, and have killed them cleanly slightly past 100 yards. I know if the 357 works that well, your 44 magnum will with ease.

I think you'll love that gun after you play around with it some!

Thanks for the post. I shot it this week and it was great. Sure is alot different coming out of a cabine as compared to a pistol. Lots of fun!!
