Sure it can, (I think  :-D ) The chamber area would be the biggest sticking point, if there would be enough wall thickness. I would start with a 10 gauge Ultra bull barrel then you would have to pay a gunsmith a lot of money. I even had a few 8 Guage shells loaded with #6 shot. I think I can get more if you do it and need some ammo. It is Industrial ammo used to shoot in Kilns to get the clinkers and slag off the walls....<><.... :grin:

The place to start would be at a gunsmith that does a lot of work on shotguns. You might try a specialized shotgun forum or any good gunsmith that guys here use. If they can't do the work the may know a gunsmith that can. Keep us advised, and by the way, why do you want an 8 gauge, they are not legal for hunting in most places, there is usually a stipulation of something like "no shotguns larger than 10 gauge allowed". Better check into the legalities of hunting with it where you intend to use it...Good Luck ....<><.... :grin:

Looking at the picture above and comparing the dimensions in the website link, it looks possible. I might run this by a friend of mine who is a gunsmith/machinist and see what he thinks. You can get an extra barrel for $44.00 from H&R. Why did you have to bring this topic up? Just what I need, another project :lol:  :lol:

The place to start is the BATF since I think anything larger than 10 gauge is illegal.  You might want to check there first. They do read forums and check on things like this.  On must be careful of big brother.

Appreciate the input Dave in the bush but,
1st No having anything over a 10ga is not illegal.
2nd in some states you can hunt with them just not waterfowl.  Even if you couldn't hunt with one I would still want one, just for fun.
3rd they say anything bigger than a 1/2 bore rifle is illegal, which is true with the exception of if its deemed sporting use.. Such as 577,600,700 nitro expresses.. Or any number of wildcats...

The only rifle hunting for deer is "Up Nort".  Pretty much just Zone 2.  But, if ya get the right license, you can hunt ML in any zone during the ML season.

wonder why no one ( h&r too) makes made to order barrels. got to be a market for 8 gauge. would realy like to see a 32 and 24 gauge for this gun. lot of folks seem interested in the 8 lately.

Hi msorenso, no I have not researched it since I'm not to interested in one. I bought a couple of 8 gauge shells though, one for a buddy Handiholic that uses it in a shotgun shell display for the gun course he teaches and one for myself for the Hunter Safety courses I teach....<><.... :grin:  8)

Rem Mag,
Shot many rounds in my 10ga...  Shot 12 rounds in 375 RUM with no problem..  Recoil is not a huge deal to me. :D

It is to expensive to shoot my 375 RUM for fun only 10 shots on this end. I agree with you these firearms have some kick but that is only part of shooting. I see a lot of dislike mentioned that I see as just part of shooting. Best of luck on your changing to another gauge.
