Author Topic: odd way to use low rings and still clear the hammer (Read 893 times)

Well since my BSA broke i couldn't find a scope ring combo that cleared the hammer HEIGHT wise. So i took a Bushnell SHarpshooter 3-9x32, ya know really oversized X ring so not a low ring type unless i do what i did. i out both B-square rings ahead of the turrets and positioned the whole deal so length wise the power ring is beyond the path of the hammer. picture the Mosin-Nagant with PU scope (Enemy at the gates) and that's the basic idea, lost the digi cam yet again so who knows if/when i'll post pics.

If the tube is a 1-piece, that will work well if it's not mounted too far back, but if it's a 2-piece tube, it certainly may not last long if it's not babied in handling, the rear half of the scope is unsupported. If you have access to a grinder, modifying the hammer would be a better choice.

what's the eye relief like? I posistion scopes so i can shoot it comfortably.

well the scope as is the eye relief is fine, but i found a grinder and am grinding it down instead.
