First thing I would do is order a scope base and offset hammer spur from H & R order it now you might have when you get your gun  can't help you with loads just got a sidekick haven't shot it yet. have weaver 2.5s on some of my handis most people like more power but I've had good luck with the weavers and they don't look to big for the gun

You will love the huntsmen or sidekick.  I shoot Hornady 240g mag XTP's in my sidekick with 90grains of APP.  I have shot the loose pyrodex also but the APP is AWESOME.  I group 3"-4" group at 100yards with the fiber optic sights.  Give American Pioneer Powder a try...it is the easiest to clean of all powders with plenty of punch!  A lot of guys fire heavier bullets, but man 240g is still a wab-a-lead!

I use a Williams peep sight on mine and like it a lot more than the scope I had on it before.  Nothings in the way when removing the breechplug (search the forum for improvents on the plug tool), and clean-up is a snap as the sight isn't in the way at all.  It's also very accurate, and mine worked with the factory front sight just fine.
If life is a beach, why am I so crabby?
