Of the twenty five caliber cartriges which is the most efficient charge to velocity?

For a rifle, the most efficient is the .25-20. For all .25-caliber cartridges then it is the .25 ACP. This isn't meant as a smart-a$$ response - the smaller the case capacity and the lower the bullet weight, the more efficient the cartridge is in fps/gr of powder.

.25-20...........159
.250 Sav..........71
.25-06.............57
.257 WBY........49

Now just take your pick of the efficiency you want....

The smallest case is always the most efficent, but not nessarly the one for the job at hand.

Efficiency has its place sometimes to a degree, but Lone Star's info. is a
great example of how it is far from THE thing.

My 257 WBY isn't very efficent but it sure doesn't waste any time getting the bullet there.

Why the question?

Most efficient has never entered into my considreation when choosing a cartridge. Muzzle velocity, rifle design and other factors, yes. Efficiency, no.
