45-70 barrel fit

Hi,
 I have been reading Freds very good articles on accurising the H&R and had a close look of my receiver and barrels, late last year I had fitted by the H&R NZ importer a 45-70 barrel to my frame (.243 superlight) Have  been using the 45-70 with no problems except the odd stuck fired case and best groups so far of around 2"-3" with 300gr hornadys at 100yds,
Well after reading Freds articles I checked the receiver/barrel fit and found that the 45-70 barrel there is a slight visible gap, how do I fix this without upseting the perfect fit of the .243 superlight barrel,

Fitting your 45/70 barrel will not affect the fit of the 243 since all the work will be done to the barrel's underlug.

If you decide to BED the 45/70 to the frame, you might not be able to use the 243 after that.  Bedding involves using epoxy to bed the underlug of the barrel to the recess in the frame.  

A slight gap is acceptable, see the FAQ for the numbers.
