what kind of accuracy are you 7mm TCU guys getting when fire forming? I have had this 7mm for years and not shot it but reading this board lit a fire under my rump! I once had a 357 Herret and the fire forming loads were very accurate.  I will be loading for whitetail sounds like the Hornady 139 grain SST is the bullet I will use. Thanks John.

All of the silhouette guys say the the fireforming loads can be quite accurate.  Certainly better than me.  When I did my part with my fireforms I blasted the rams every time.  You just have to make sure that when you go to reload them to not push the shoulder back too far.  Play with the die until a case just barely drops in flush with the breech.  Unloaded and loaded closing of the action should "sound" the same.  Often times I can tell when I didn't do a good enough job of that even before the round fails to fire because of poor lockup.  IronMonkey

Id like to see some more replies on this post as I just made a trade for a 10" 7mmTCU barrel and dies. It"ll be a while before I can get a scope for it but Im lookin foward to doing some fireforming for it if I can scrape up the components. Which brings to mind a question I have on scope mounts for 10" barrels. Is there a base made for the 10' barrels or do you have to have them drilled and tapped for a different base of some kind?

Flatlander - All Contender barrels (except, I presume, some from very early manufacture) will take the same mounts, regardless of barrel length.  The holes under the rear sight are all exactly the same.

Got to ken lights site and check out the NRA IHMSA silhouette sights.  You can shoot iron or scope with the added benefit of consistent poi switching between iron and scope.  Expensive but very accurate bond/bomar sights.  Great for hunting too.  IronMonkey

I shot my first Big Bore Production 40 X 40 IHMSA score fireforming brass for a new 7TCU barrel. That barrel has always shot well ever since then. I have owned many barrels chambered for 7TCU, 6.5TCU and 6TCU. I think you would have trouble inventing a bad load for them. Russ
