The auction for the H&R RMEF 35 whelen was Saturday. I got to bring her home for 200.00.  The gun has a few scratches on it but over all is in great condition. On the way home I stopped at a local gun shop to get a scope and reloading dies and found a Handi in 280 for 150.00 on the used gun rack. This one didn't have the box with it like the 35 whelen but there isn't a scratch on her, looks brand new to me.  So, I figured that I could get a scope a dies later and picked it up also. Does anyone know about breaking in of a used gun? Worth the time and ammo or not? Thanks all.

Congratulations and Welcome aboard Superjay01, you have 2 fine guns there, the best of the best!!! For my 2 cents I'd say just go out and shoot them and see how they do before you do anything fancy, They could shoot great now and you don't want to foul them up. Clean them good and dry off any extra oil in the chamber and on the locking shelf in the action that holds the action shut and fire away!!!....<><....

Congrats on 2 fine Handi's :D

Like MSP said..clean them up real good..and get rid of any extra oil..I would also spray out the ejector real good too..make sure it doesn't hang up at all..and go give them a whirl :toast:
