Remington Mauser???
« on: April 03, 2006, 01:44:20 PM »
Did I actually see this somewhere or was I dreaming?  I love my old Mauser rifles and also my Remington 700's.  Is Remington producing Mauser actioned rifles?  If so, are the actions being imported, and who is actually producing them?

Yes, they are 98 actions being imported from Zastava I believe.  There are other posts around on this so you might want to do a search for more info.

I saw those, too.  What a trip!  Imagine the Model 700 and Mauser actions from the same company.  Why go anywhere else?

From what I understand, those Mausers are the exact same rifle that Charles Daly was importing until this year and couldn't sell.  Daly gave up and Remington decided to go overseas for product.

Two things are for sure....They aren't true Mausers and they sure aren't Remingtons.

Guys from another forum who are big into safari big bores have had experience with the Charles Daly mausers and have nothing but praise for them..  Considering he has many custom safari calibers I would trust the opinion. Not one from people with pre conceived opinions.

I didnt mean to infer that those imports were inferior rifles.  My point is that they are not Mausers, they are 'Mauser like', just as every other Bolt Action out there.

One other thing to consider, when Charles Daly was importing those rifles, they were about $100 cheaper.
