Hill Country Property Search
« on: July 19, 2006, 03:21:02 PM »
My wife and I are headed out a week from Friday to finally walk some properties in the hill country.  We are looking to buy some acreage to retire to and enjoy in the mean time.  We will be looking over some spots S/W of Rocksprings and maybe a couple near Camp Wood as well.   We ahve three realtors to visit, so hopefully it will go smoothly.   Wish us luck in finding a great deal..

Good luck Mark, hurry up and find a nice ranch loaded with game so me and Faye can come visit with you and Teresa. When I get rich and famous maybe I'll be able to buy one out there near ya. How big a ranch do you think you'll be able to wind up with?

Rich?    Between both my salary and my wifes it will be hard to afford a large place.  But we currently lease two seperate properties and combined they make up 383 acres.  We could be investing that money in  a place of our own..

GB, if we decided to go out to west Tx around Dryden, or Sanderson or Iraan, we could easily buy 300 acres or more.  There are some nice spots with deep draws and a good number of mule deer.

One reason we likely won't is that with gas at 3 bucks a gallon, that would be an expensive drive, and we likely wouldn't make many trips out there.  Just outside Rocksprings we are looking at much smaller places around 80 acres and up.  There's even a few smaller places we wil be looking at that are a bit more mountanious.   For sure you and Faye will get an invite out when ever we finally do buy a place and have a camper or cabin set up.....
Cyber Sniper, you are right about the heat.  I planned to wait until April but my wife being a school teacher only ahs a couple weeks left before school starts up again.  So, this trip will be as much a get away trip as anything.   By April, we will have twice the down payment that we have available right now, so April will be more likely a trip to actually purchase than this trip.  Unless we find th deal of a life time.

Well, while at work on Thursday, my wife emailed me and said,  lets wait until April when we will have more $.   Soooooo,  we didn't go this weekend and the land fund CD continues to grow....  The temps will be much cooler in April anyway...
