i used IMR 4350 in a 270 i had , wasn't a handi  but it would shoot better then i could.

my load was 52.5 grains of  IMR 4350
140 grain SST , winchester case and cci BR primer.
curiosity killed the cat , but i was lead suspect for a while

IMR4350 is not the same as IMR4320; the latter is somewhat faster.  IMR data shows 44.5 grains as a maximum for the 140-grain bullet.   IMR4320 will not give as high a velocity as IMR4350 will, and IMR7828 beats them both by over 100 fps.  Jack O'Connor used IMR4320 in his .270s, I believe with a 120-grain bullet.  That powder is clearly better suited to lighter bullets than 140s, but it will work.

IMR4350 is not the same as IMR4320

da and i didn't say that i just gave the man my load that used for the 140gr SST.

and from my testing 4350 shot better then 4320

if people don't know how to tell the difference between IMR 4350 and IMR 4320 they have no business reloading (if they can't read then they'll blow them selves up)

i can't tell you how much i am impressed by the .270 as a non-magnum caliber.    but, i'd load it for more of what it is worth.....and imr 4320 isn't the answer.   yes, imr 4320 meters very, very well.   i have used it with 165 gr' bullets in a .30-06.  Very Accurate!    but imr makes much better powders for a bullet as heavy (sectional density is high) as the 140 gr' SST in a .270 Win'

i'd recommend imr 4350, or maybe Hodgdon's 4350.   they're a little faster than Hodgdon's 4831 which -- in its Original form, seemingly slower than today's H-4831 -- produced fantastic velocities for Jack O'Connor years ago.

imr 4350 will give you good load densities for accuracy, as well as good velocities.

take care,

ss'

Thank's for the info fellas. i know the IMR 4320 is more suited for the .308 with good results and the 4350 from what i have read is better suited for the .270 but i have also had good results with the IMR 4320 useing 42.0 gr's and a 140 sirrera gameking hpbt shooting them through a ruger mk II bolt action .270.but i'll try the IMR 4350 and see what i can do with it.
