I have a .450 Guide Gun and it came with XS Ghost ring sights.  I no absolutley nothing about dovetail diameters, but it sounds to me that it would fit

Next time call the Psychic hotline. It is really hard to give advice on a sight if we don't know the manufacturer.

ooops it was an xs ghost sight..
as you can tell im very new to the levergun stuff and know nothing about them except i bought my first one a few weeks ago and now have a new addiction and eager to learn all i can.. i was a total bow hunter for 30 years and got into guns just a couple of years ago i have always used the t/c encore but picked up a used 1895g with ported barrell and fell in love with it but when i got it home and shot it at my range it shot 3 feet low and my heart broke but still love the feel of this rifle. i have been told that my front post is probably to tall even though it is factory and the gun is in excelent shape only being fired 22 times now ,counting the 20 i have put through it 300gr remington hollow points.
i really want to keep it with open sights because it will be used at 100 yards or less. my encore 300 will take care of the longer shots when hunting in the open areas..
i found this forum sometime back and know there are alot of you that know these guns inside and out and have seen the help you all have given to us new marlin owners with the marlinitis..
i apreciate all the help i can get...im already saving for my next marlin while i fix the problem with this one !!
 thanks again...jeff

You can either lower the front sight or raise the rear (remember, adjust the rear sight in the direction you want the point of impact to move, and the front sight in the oposite direction).  You might want to go to Brownell's site and they have a sight calculator you can use to determine what height front sight you need.

If the previous owner had a receiver (peep) sight on the rifle, he may very well have installed a higher front sight.  If there is a gunsmith near you, you might talk to him about it and see if he will put a lower front sight on the rifle.

i read a post on another web site and was told that awhile back marlin let a few 1895-45-70 get out the door with the wrong sight on them. so i called marlin today and told them the problem i am having.they kindly admited the mistake and told me they will ship me a new rear sight to fix this problem..
my first experince with there service dept. was great !!! top notch !!!
i cant wait to get it back on my range and see the true 1895g in action !!!
thanks for all of your help...jeff..

My Marlin came with the sights shooting very low.  I conatced XS and asked for a manual as to how to properly adjust the sights.  It came within a week, and I am hitting what I'm aiming at. I like the XS sights, but I would prefer a bead out in fron raher than the post.  Anybody tried that?
