there are approx' 1,000 Wal Marts that will discontinue selling firearms -- I was told today -- by the end of March, 2006 because those individual stores are not selling enough units.    

I saw a Model 700 ADL Syn' in .270 cal' marked down to $299 today.    They had been at $364 after a previous markdown.    There were one or two Model 700's in the store that were not marked down, but they were Youth models, I think.

In any event,   see or call your local Wal Marts to see if you can get one.

I have seen the Remington Synthetic 7400 .30-06 & .270 closing out at $299 at a local WalMarts.  Those were the only models so far.

I went to Walmart a couple weeks back, the same one where Ive bought some Rem rifles and shotties as of late. I walked into Sporting goods and nothing was there.

I cant complain, I made out on some great deals and saved a couple grand overall.

I bought a synthetic  700 rem in 30-06 a few years back for $235 at WalllyWorld on clearance. I put a 4X buckmaster scope on it. I tried a new load in it yeasterday. 165 gr nosler balistictip and IMR4064 shot inside 7/8 of an inch at 100 yd.

excellent choice of powder from i've seen elsewhere about the .30-06, and .308, regarding accuracy.  

i've loaded IMR 4320 with 165 gr' CoreLokts in my .30-06 ADL Synthetic with great results.   very good accuracy, easy metering.    but IMR 4064 has the better reputation for accuracy.
