Nikon buckmaster 6-18x
« on: February 09, 2006, 12:06:07 PM »
Anyone have one??  Looking to scope out a savage in .243.  Mostly wondering about the light gathering abilities at the higher powers.  I know the glass isn't great, but just wondering if it's workable.
Thanks in advance

I like the side focus. I don't care for the big ass turrets!  It also looks like your looking through a tp tube. I.E... big black ring around your site picture.

Toecutter,

I think you will be surprise at the quality of glass in the Nikon Buckmaster line if you decide to get one.  They are very nices scopes and are very hard to beat for the money.  I would highly recommend one.

Thanks for the help guys, i already have a 3-9 buckmaster and I think its great but there is a definite difference in clarity between that and even a vari-x I.  Not that it's bad but it is noticeably a little less sharp.  That is no big deal in the 3-9 variety but I would guess the difference will be exagerated at the greater power levels of the 6-18.  I figure I'll give it a try and see what happens.  Thanks again
