45-70 range report,

Had a pleasant day at the range with the 45-70. Shot at 50yds with 3 shot groups with four different powder loads, every group was the same 1st shot low, the next two higher and tight.
The photos show the story. Any sugestions on getting clover leaf groups. Only thing I have done is fit a rubber oring.

There is no reason that you couldn't group pics as easily as you group shot .

Click on IMG toggle, or press alt+p, will insert {img}  { is for [ and } is ] , (at the end of the text !)
Copy from another window and Past the link of the pic
Click On IMG* toggle, or press alt+p, will close pic insertion with {/img}


Repeat as you want.

It seems that you had inserted your pics inside some words !.
If the link isn't at the right place in the post, you may select it and cut or copy before paste it where you want (sorry for tense missuse!).

howard try  55 grns adi 2207 fore 2221 fps that is a very accurate load in my buff classic . also try a few layers of milk carton in the forend just ahead of the forend screw, to float the barrel and see if it is any beter if it brings the group in then do a proper beding job.my buff classic forend is floated.that load for the 2207 is a starting load for the marlin you can see the load data  
on the adi site.

If you're ever in a pinch and having ran out of handloads, the Winchester Super-X 300gr JHP's cut ragged holes at 50yrds in my 45-70 Handi.  ..not just for me but also for my dad and uncle.

Hi guys, and thanks knight, it's a deal!! I will happily wait a few weeks!!!, here is my all time favorite light 45-70 load for hunting and target work, accurate, easy the shoot, and deadly on game, 28.0 grains of 2400 behind a 350 Hornady RNFP bullet. No recoil to speak of and the smallest groups I have been able to obtain with my 22" barreled 45-70 Handi. I have tried to get someone to chrongraph this load but no luck yet. Try it, you will like it, and good luck....<><.... :grin:

Also while we are on the 45-70, does anyone out there have both a .410 gauge Tamer AND a 45-70, or just a 45-70 round? I have been thinking about putting .410 Tamer buttstock on my 45-70 and use it for hunting with an extra 4 45-70 shells held in the buttstock. If anyone has both a .410 buttstock and a 45-70 shell could you try it in the buttstock and let me know if it is held securely enough for hunting....Thanks again
