Night sight choice/adjustment
« on: March 09, 2006, 05:29:44 AM »
I had my relatively new Glock 23 out to the range and went thru 150 rounds, more than I'd shot through it total before.  It confirmed my earlier problem of always shooting left.  I shot a couple other pistols to confirm, and my Glock is the only one to shoot off-center.  Though it groups well, one ragged hole at 5 yards and a nice round group at 10.

I'm wondering about the best way to solve this problem.  If I let the gun free-recoil to the point it almost flies out of my hand, it seems to shoot center...but this is no solution as it's not practical.  I'd rather adjust so it hits where I want and then adjust back if necessary.

The factory sights aren't great; I'm thinking of night sights.  What would be a good quality night sight?  Can the "fixed" ones be moved enough in the dovetail to fix this small problem of mine?  The adjustable ones look a little fragile and cost half as much as I paid for the gun.
Thanks..

Andy,
I like the Meprolights for the Glocks. Follow the manufacturer's installation instructions. The Glock LE dealer installed mine using a sight pusher. To adjust your factory sights, just tap your sights in the direction you want the strike of the bullet to move. using a piece of dowel and a hammer.
Good luck,

:cb2: I just found these on the web the other day, Heinie Sights. Instead of three dots lining up, their system uses two dots on top of each other.

Just a thought.

I have a set of Mepros on a G17 and Trijicons on a G27.  Both are very nice.  Be careful when you drift the sights, as the glass containing the gas can be broken.  I used a brass punch and light hammer taps.  A dowel as mentioned above shoud work well and not mar your sights.

I have Meprolights on all 3 of my Glocks, they are excellent sights, especially for the price. I like the larger white rings for daylight shooting, but this is a personal preference.
