Anybody have any source(s) for downloading cartridges??

Since we are looking at small bore rifles to begin with, do any of you have sources for DOWNLOADING these cartridges for plinking/small game hunting?

Being able to take something like a .243 or .250 and downloading it with a 70 gr bullet around <1,800fps would make for a fun round which wouldn't cause targets like rabbits to get too messed up!  So how about it guys???  Where do (would) you get some info for downloading them?

Try Ken Water's Pet Loads, Lyman and Speer Manuals. Speer #13 usually lists some recommendations for light loads at the end of each load table.

Lyman offers cast bullet loads and Ken Waters loves to include light loads and cast loads for nearly every cartridge he worked on.  

You might try the IMR and Allliant Powder web sites too.

My SPEER manual which I've had since Day One of reloading had what I needed all along! :)  I'm glad you pointed it out to me!

Download data is available on Hodgdon's web site for all cartridges showing standard loads in H4895.  Look at "Youth Loads".  A formula is given for determining proper loads.  The data is based on Hodgdon's 27th Edition reloading manual.  This method yields loads in the 1500 - 2000 fps range.

It looks like I need a new reloading manual!

My old Hodgdon manual doesn't even show H4895 loads for a .25-06, let alone the 60% youth loads.  Looking at other calibers with that powder, I'm thinking it will do what I'm looking for, if I can find some .25-06 data!

Hodgdon's "Youth Loads" are found only on the web site.  H4895 load data are shown for the 25-06 on the web site for 90, 100, and 120 grain bullets.  Go to:  www.Hodgdon.com

From what I read at the site, they said to take 60% of the max load of H4895 for 'youth loads.'  Unfortunately, my old Hodgdon manual doesn't even list H4895 for the .25-06.  I also didn't find it listed in any of my other manuals for the .25-06. :(

Plainsman,

Take a look at the Rifle Data for 25-06 on the Hodgdon site.  You will find H4895 loads listed for the 25-06 there.
