.44 Magnum Speer.429 vs. Hornady .430
« on: February 15, 2006, 01:34:54 PM »
I have been shooting Speer 240 grain GDJSP bullets in my Marlin 1894.  These bullets are .429 in diameter.  I would like to use some Hornady 240 grain JHP XTP's which are .430 in diameter.  My question is this:  If I use the .430 diameter Hornadys will I do any harm to my barrel rifling?  Can I shoot several hundred .430 Hornadys and then go back to the Speer .429 bullets?  Many thanks to all of you!!!

Bounty hunter,

I have a Marlin 1894p  That loves the .430 Hornady and winchester Bullets...   I've loaded some speer 240GR.  JSP  It likes them just as well.
I can't see How it could harm your barrel..  I haven't noticed any major copper fouling in mine ...

Hope this helps...

They are both designed to work with 44 magnums. I wouldn't hesitate to use either one.
