what is the differnce between a second and third generation m1a scope mount?

I'm just starting to look for a mount, so I'm not 100% sure but the 3rd gen has the 2 big thumb screws to mount. I know the B-square and other early mounts only have 1 mount screw and 2 screws fore and aft to set elevation. Kinda see-saw setup. Not sure if that type is 1st or 2nd gen.
