I put a Leupold quick release base and rings on a .375 H&H Magnum and the recould kept loosening the rings so at least for a heavy recoiling caliber, I wouldn't recommend them.
On Encore barrels that have iron sites, I like Quik Site (available from Natchez and others) see through rings that permit me to still use the iron sites. This does place the scope higher than some like however.
On Encore barrels without iron sites, I go with the Weaver style bases/rings from Fox Ridge Outfitters.
On a Thompson/Center Contender barrel I bought, a Conetrol base was already installed so I bought Conetrol rings. This is a quite good looking mounting system but it's a bit of a pain to get the scope lined up correctly whilst tightening the rings.
