Recoil pads for Handi's?
« on: February 16, 2006, 07:53:58 AM »
What do you guys use for recoil pads when you've replaced the factory units?

I'm getting close to the point where I need to find a pad or butt plate for my GunStocksInc wood.  I cut the LOP to + 1/4" of the factory LOP on the laminates, thus requiring a slightly larger pad or plate.

I'm looking into grind-to-fit units, but haven't found one that tickles my fancy.

Suggestions??

I like the Limbsaver grind to fit pads..I had GunStocks Inc..fit one to mine when they made my custom stocks..and I have them on the rest of my Handi's..If you want something different..see if the Morgan Adjustables plate will fit your stock..they have a shotgun pad and a curved target style that may interest you..

Slapped a Limbsaver pull-over on the back of my Survivor so I can still access the water-tight storage in the butt stock without making new holes. Works great.

Mac & Quick,

Is the hole spacing correct on that small LimbSaver pad for the H&R/NEF's?

It's not perfectly aligned..and you'll need to fill 1 hole to get the pad perfectly square on the Handi stock..but..I am not sure on the GunStocks Inc. stock...I had them install it and grind it when I ordered mine from them..

Seems to me I use one of the existing stock holes and drilled a new one for the other, which ever centers the pad so I can mark it for final grinding.

Seems to me I use one of the existing stock holes and drill a new one for the other, which ever centers the pad so I can mark it for final grinding. Mine are on big bores, so I left the pads full for a bigger footprint, I only ground the mating surface and then tapered the pad sides a little to match.
