pulled up yesterday
« on: March 26, 2006, 02:47:49 AM »
Pulled the last of my rat and beaver traps yesterday. Season ends here this upcoming Friday. Didn't have too great of luck this spring on either. We got dumped on (snow) this past week, and the winds really kicked up. The snow made for some very cool scenery to check sets in though!    tons of waterfowl, very quiet out, and very little human activity around. Couple days the roads were not open yet, so had to park where I could and hike back in rest of the way...probably took couple notches off of the beltline in process. Kicked up lots of deer, pheasants, and was fun to hike through the snow back into those sections.
Anyhoo...Didn't get to take the digital cam with me, so will have to wait for the 35mm's to develop then I will scan them and post 'em up for you.
Hope everyone had a great year.
Hey Wacky, saw you posted and was great to hear from you again. Hope all is well with you down your way! Great tip on the pogos. I've been toying with the idea of switching out from my older style rod-type (or bullet) earth anchors over to pogos...mostly because I know I can always get washers, but may not always have access to more bullet or other similar anchors to fit my current driver. We get some rock-hard soil here with freezing, and even just bone-dry conditions in some years, then in other years things get real soft from tons of moisture. Do these perform for you in most soil conditions? There is a guy over here in Iowa that makes pogos, and their conditions are so similar to ours here in NE (we are neighbors anyway, just 'cross the river  )
Again, hope everyone had a great season. Maybe see some of you at gatherings this year...
