218 Bee

Have any of you boys tried a 218 Bee on coyotes?  I have two leverguns and a Ruger #1 in this calibre; would a .222 oe .223 be a better choice?  How about a .44 mag in a rifle?

Loophole,   Welcome to GBO

In answer to your question about the 218 bee, Yes i have had several 218 bees. Most all of them were bolt action or single shot built on the [b  Cadet action.[/b]I don't have a 218 at this time, I do use 222 Rem, 223 Rem, 17 Rem, 222 Mag and a 6MM Rem that i use for varmint hunting. As far as the 44 mag goes, not my style. Good luck......Joe.......[/b]

The adequacy of the Bee depends a bit on the range and the bullet.  It's a little small, but inside 200 yds on a small dog should be OK.  More often considered a crow and woodchuck round.  .222 and .223 would be superior all around.  The .44 Mag will certainly do the job, although your shots might be limited to maybe 150 yds (depending on your gun and your shooting ability).  If you're hoping to keep the fur, it might be a little excessive (big hole in, bigger hole out).
