First Impressions: Zeiss Conquest 3-9X40 MC
« on: February 16, 2006, 06:15:08 PM »
The scope, which I purchased from The Optic Zone, arrived today on-time with the tracking information.  I'll break up my initial likes and dislikes in a bullet format.

Likes
- Solid looking construction
- Even matte finish
- Rubber ring on eyepiece to protect yourself
- Large, easy to operate power adjustment ring
- Say's assembled in USA (at least we're seeing part of the $)
- Initial check of the eye relief shows about 4" (as advertised) all the way through the 3-9 power adjustment
- Reticle stays the same size throughout power adjustment
- Reset to zero windage and elevation turret dials

Dislikes
- Plastic turret covers
- Plastic turret adjustment dials

I haven't had a great opportunity to look through the scope all that much. However, it does seem bright and clear all the way to the edges.  It will be a little longer before I can put it on my rifle and give it a real test.

Overall, looks like a fine scope.  I just wish that they would have put some quality looking turret dials on the scope, along with some aluminum turret covers.  I do like the way you can re-zero the dials without removing any screws or parts.  It would have been nice if they were metal though (kinda like my Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9X40).  But, considering that the scope has Zeiss glass in it I'm sure they had to do some cutting in spots to meet the price piont.

I don't understand all the trashing of the plastic turret covers.  I've had 2
Cconquests for 2 years and they are fantastic and tough.  It's never even crossed my mind after I got them sighted in.
