Bushnell Sportsman 4x32 Question
« on: February 18, 2006, 04:25:04 PM »
I have a Busnell Trophy and  a Banner and have good service from them.  I am needing a really inexpensive decent scope for a temporary mount on a a gun.  The Sportsman 4x32 from Cabelas is 39.99.  The Bushnell scopes have been good for me and I was wondering if any of you had used the Sportsman??
Thanks

Jeff

It's a cheap scope intended for a cheap gun. But it does a surprisingly good job as long as it's not treated to more recoil than it can handle. How much that is I'm not sure. It will work OK on standard non magnum rounds for casual use. Personally I'd not mount one on a magnum or slug gun nor would I trust it on an expensive hunt far from home. But for a knock about gun close to home it might amaze you.

Check to see if there is a Banner model in that type of fixed scope.  The Banners are awesome scopes for the money.  I wouldn't go any cheaper than that.

buddy's got one on his .308 Model 100 Winchester, it looks good but it may be shifting zero. and his dad's got one on his Model 700BDL .30-06, i don't know how that ones working, i wouldn't trust either one though. best their for is .22s in my opinion.

I have a couple Sportsmans.  Never had a problem with either of them.  Had one on a Handi .44 Mag for a while.  The recoil never bothered it.
