hylander my 223 barrel has been my most accurate  barrel  by far. I have only shot factory loads out of it  but remington 55 grain psp and winchester white box ammo with 45 grain jacketed hollow points shoot 5 shot sub moa at 100 yards when allowing the barrel to cool between shots.                               iisabigone

Just checked my target log book and with my 26 inch heavy barrel Encore turned in it's best group of .506 at 100 yds with 27 gr. of H335 & a 40 gr Hornady Vmax. It will do this all the time if I do my job.

I don't have a 223 anymore but mine was very accurate. I was shooting golf balls at 200 yards. I bought a 22-250 and sold the 223 barrel. My 22-250 is every bit as accurate as the 223 barrel was.

I have the .223 Encore in stainless uses 20.0 gr of 4198 with 50gr Rem SP and it is a tack driver.  As for a varminter, wonderful setup because squeeze the trigger and you can see the bullet hit.  This setup is my
"go to" varminter.  Spend the time working on the reloads and it will pay off.

Howdy Gunmen-I have a little experience with the Encore. I developed loads for my brother in laws 280AI Encore and was very surprised at 1" or less 100 3 shot groups. Before I started I had read from folks in the know that 1.5" was to be expected. His 204 barrel does the same thing. It seems those things that work against a breaking rifle's accuracy don't apply with this one. realidahorock

Me too with my Contender, but I was told a while ago that I was wrong.  Some folks think you need custom stuff to get this performance.

I have from time to time taken a few with a 223.  I use light FMJ in front of a small charge of shotgun powder like Blue Dot.  Of course head shots are only logical.
