The Fairbanks Advisory Commitee decided last night to support proposition 39. This will allocate 35% to non-residents, with 25% of those going to a non-resident with a signed guide agreement. I for one do not support this proposition, as I for one and many people that I know put in for this hunt everyyear and have yet to be drawen. Only 150 permits are given out and I feel that residents should have first crack at those. I feel setting aside 35% or 52 out of 150 permits for non-residents is too many in such a small hunt. That only leaves 98 permits for residents. The person making the proposal is a hunting guide. He and his son both guide for sheep in this area, and are wanting to expand to Caribou. As for the bad logistics of this hunt, I don't see it, I've hunted this hurd before it was a drawing hunt and got many Caribou from this area. It's an easy hunt, can be done from 4-wheeler, walk-in, or fly-in. Anyone that feels the way I do should send in a letter to the State Game Board prior to the March meeting.
