furious 1 I live and hunt in the central part of the state Have taken a few yotes this year but havent really just gone out after them, picked them up while checking on the cattle or checking the food plots during the deer season, I am still feeding even though I dont bow hunt this time of year but I think its important once you start feeding to continue until spring so that the deer winter in good shape, are you not doing any good on coyotes up there? we are starting to go into calfing season here so we have to watch real close as they will steal a new calf if they get the chanch they love fresh beef.  Varmitmaster lives closer to you and he will be responding to you I am sure he is a big coyote hunter up there can give you his take on his success.  If you ever get down in Faulkner co. let me know and will try to get together, take care. :D   JIM

thanks for the reply j, i have called a few up but not into shooting range. they seem kinda skittish around here this year for some reason. lots of people chase them in trucks and use cb radios( good way to tear up your truck i might add) to kill 'em. i prefer calling myself. anyway thanks again for the reply and if your ever up in my neighborhood holler at me. i live in Tyronza (Poinsett county) and work in Memphis. i haven't been down tour way in a good while. also i deer hunt in Pleasant Grove which is up near Mountain View. good talkin' to ya!

furiour 1 Yes we have some of the locals who on sat. night have their regular coyote truck hunts also but its only fair chase they wouldnt shoot one if their lives depended on it, they almost know the coyotes on a first name basis, several have permission to cross my property with their trucks and they a real respectfull never a problem out of them. :D   JIM

I have but this year I have been able to get enough of them casually just being out there, it has been a good year fir them around here as far as being lots of them not for getting away, I do enjoy calling them during the deer seasons just to watch them sneek around. we have to watch the fence lines as they sneek around them and the pastures are broken up in 40 acre fields makes for 440 yard shooting if shooting from one fence row to another but thats all part of it. :D   JIM

jim, not many pastures or fence lines 'round here, mainly ditches, rice fields and some woods to hunt. i've never hunted yotes in the hills where i deer hunt but our land up there is solid woods also. there is some pastures nearby though and i've thought about asking the landowners about hunting on 'em. i dont figure they'd mind taking a few off their hands.

Hi furior1 i live about 30 miles from where u deer hunt and last we kill 2 coyotes out of 3 trips out  and Said i do think that a truck chaseing a yote will make it smarter any time yotes and people come together and u dont kill him he is going to be shy next time and may move out of that area for 2 or 3 weeks or some times longer  has Jim said calfing season is coming on there dont have to go that far too find a meal a still born calf or the atfer birth or a live one a yote doesnt care if it is living or dead a good tape to use is the Johnny Stewart CT 155A fawn bleating or a pig in distress tape  BUT u have to remeber that it is coyote mating season it is harder to call in than refore they have the mating on there mind then food if u dont have it get Johnny Stewart CT101D SUPERJACK tape it has made a bunch of oyotes to meet the END of the Road jsut like the CT 155A dont be shy to try some thing dif. like how many jackrabbits have u seen runing around i havent But a coyote will come in to the season when u go out just dont use the cottontail in distress every body and there brother has used that tape dont get me wrong it will work some time but if i go in to a place and use 2 or 3 sounds there next time i go back to that place use some thing dif. i have all Johnny Stewart tapes and a bunch of Dennis Kirk tapes too try this out and see if it help let me know how it goes good luck varmit master

 varmitmaster, sorry i didn't reply sooner. i have the ct 102f johnny stewart juvenile cottontail that i use with my homemade e-caller. i also have two mouth calls, one of them being a lohman "circe", and the phanthom predator e-caller. i went out right at dark yesterday and used the phanthom to howl and got a couple howls back( :) i left though, don't wanna mess up my honey hole). i am not familiar with the dennis kirk tapes. do they sound better than js?? i didn't see any at bass pro in memphis when i bought the ct 102f. good talkin' to ya.   brad

I hunt around the Jonesboro area.  We have mainly been killing gray fox.  Don't kill too many coyotes, but don't reallly call for them either.
I think there is room for all of God's creatures....... right beside the mashed potatoes.
