Just wondering. I came across some type metal (not lynotype) the other day for $33 per 50LBS.
Is this a good price and whats the right mix with WW lead?

Thanx,
Trent

Thanks for the help. I think I will buy it from some of the prices I have been seeing around.
I thought type metal was higher in tin and antimoney and was why it cost more? Wouldn't you use, say half the amount that you would for linotype?

I pulled this from the LASC web site. The article was posted by Glen Fryxell. So yes, you are correct.

Code: [Select]

Alloy          "Average" Composition
Linotype      4% tin, 12% antimony, 84% lead
Monotype      9% tin, 19% antimony, 72% lead
Foundry Type  15% tin, 23% antimony, 62% lead
