Favorite Powders for the 40 S&W
« on: March 22, 2006, 01:17:12 PM »
I just picked up a new S&W MP model in 40 cal. and would like to reload for it .I'm not new to reloading, but am looking for suggestions on what powders you guys are using. My gun likes the 180 grain bullets  and I'm not looking to push the caliber to its max, just a good accurate load. It seems that there are some new powders out there. Thanks for any help --1Longbow

Titegroup works great for my CZ 40 S&W. I am currently loading 150gr Noslers with 5.3gr of Titegroup. Flows very nicely, and is very clean burning.

I've loaded thousands of 40S&W using Herco Powder.

Can't double charge it or you make a mess, which was a big plus because I was selling these rounds.

My customer’s only complaint was it was dirty, but were very happy with accuracy so they didn't mind.

Hope this helps.

I load the 40 for my brother.  I pick a load out of the manual that will push his bullets out about 850.  He has not noticed a difference between loads of 231, herco, clays, 700x, etc.  I load up 3-400 at a time for him.  All seem to hit same place when he is shooting the police range so they about all work for him.
