M77 MkII Deluxe .375 - Whatta ya think?

Hey all.

Looking into purchasing a .375 H&H.  Winchester 70 was on my list, but no longer as it seems there isn't one left on the face of the earth  :-D  Anywho, looking at the Ruger M77 Mk II Deluxe in .375 H&H.  Looks like a nice gun.  Does anyone have experience with it?  What do you think quality and performance wise?  Some say it's better than the 70...

Any input would be fantastic!   :D  Yall have a good weekend

I was toying with the idea of the 375HH in the Ruger also but I have a 338 mag in the Ruger.The 375HH is very appealing to me in the Ruger except for the 10 pound weight figure that Ruger says that it has.I know that the weight will help reduce recoil but time you stick a scope on that baby it'll be over 11 pounds.I don't think I'd like to lug that around all day but as far as Ruger is concerened,I personally like them very much and think that they are well made.It would be my choice besides the Winchester also.

you might want to try calling gander mountin if you have one by you i picked up a winchester model 70 safari express in 375 H&H about 2 weeks ago from them. i really like it  it is much lighter than the ruger and the sights in my opinion is much better.

I also picked up a 375 Model 70 from Gander the day Herstal announced the bad news.  I dont think there are any around anymore.  The reason...Gunbroker had one sell at auction for $3500 about 10 days ago.  And yes it was the same model I bought for $979.

Check out the CZ  about $770 for standard wood and no cross bolts.

There's a kit that MidwayUSA sells to add a crossbolt to a stock (needs to be a flat-bottom receiver to index correctly).  Can't remember the price, but it wasn't that much, and looking at it it seemed pretty straight-forward to do.

Plus once you get the tools additional crossbolts are less than $10.  I'm piecing together a .375 and plan on adding one of these to a Richards Micro-fit.

HuntingGuy - I've got one and it's worth every penny I paid for it! I changed the pad and front sight (NECG white bead), had a trigger job done on it and it's ready to rock! Looked at the Win70's, nice rifles but the prices are nuts now! The Ruger scope rings are rock solid and detachable, saves you some money on mounts.. CZ's are good rifles but need a lot more work to get them ready. Good luck with what ever you choose! CEJ...

A good friend has a couple of the Rugers, in 375 and 416 Rigby.
I got the chance to help him burn up some ammo on both rifles.
I have to say the 375 H&H was pleasant to shoot, probably because it was so heavy. My friend was feeling like burning up some expensive ammo that day, so I got to put about 20 rounds through it, and I think because of the weight, it was real nice shooting that 375.
The 416 Rigby was not so nice to shoot. Think it loosened up my teeth and only 3 rounds was enough for me.
