semi auto .223
« on: February 23, 2006, 06:54:06 AM »
I am looking for a semi auto .223 rifle. This rifle will be used for varmints and general fooling around. I really like the look of the AR-15 but the price is way out of my league. I have seen the Mini 14 but dont like the way it shoots but is a last resort. Can anyone give me and options other than these two. My price range is that of around the mini 14.

between a mini-14 and a bushmaster there is a possible.... hmm about 200-300 dollar difference, but that difference can give you MUCH better accuracy and ... a totally much better looking rifle.

Mini-14s are nice, but they are not all that accurate, the bushmasters are so much more accurate and will last you forever.  I would save some more cash and buy a bad a$$ bushy (I perfer the A3 with 20" heavy barrel, chromed barrel and reciver for maximum durability)

I agree totally with the idea of getting a Bushy & the model you mentioned is great! It is very difficult to get Varmit accuracy for the Mini-14, even for moderate ranges. Aaro, save your Soda money, whatever
it takes to get a good AR.
I think the Bushy is great, I just had different goals for my AR & bought a
RRA Varmiter with the 24" Stainless Bull Match with Nat. Match trigger. It
will outshoot any 223 Bolt gun that I have ever owned, which is several.
Another thing, the Mini has a decent resale value, but not near as good as
a quality AR.
