I was a member of the Turbodiesel Register for years.......maybe this is where you learned about the FASS? I agree, a pusher pump is BRAIN DEAD SIMPLE the answer to the lift pump problem. That's why big rigs have them. DUH. I am just tired of paying good money for a truck that should never have had these problems in the first place......check it out:
4 LIFT PUMPS
2 INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFTS
2 FAULTY FUELTANK SENDING UNITS
2 TRACK BARS, FINALLY REPLACED WITH MY OWN MONEY WITH A 3RD GEN ONE
STEERING ALL OVER THE ROAD, REPLACED WITH THE DSS=$$$ AND STILL WANDERS, PULLS, ETC
MILEAGE GOING SOUTH AGAIN......now what.
2 POWER STEERING/HYDRAULIC PUMP REPLACMENTS
2 LEAKY REAR DIFF SEALS
2 Throttle position sensors
1 crankshaft position sensor + emergency tow
Trans going but dealer won't fix unless it grenades on me.
I have the dreaded "53" engine block, but truck isn't turned up so who knows......
2 LEAKY TRANSFER CASE ISSUES.......last time (GET THIS) they didn't replace all the bolts or left them untorqued.....went on a 700+ mile hunting trip, 100 miles of which was nutbustin' nasty...in 4x4 the entire time; trans case making noise. Get home, put truck in 4x4 to take care of something, ENTIRE TRUCK starts shaking, loudest banging imaginable--like a washing machine run wild. Shut it down.....crawl under,    ONE LOOSE BOLT holding front shaft to trans case, thus making it turn like a crankshaft. Broke my trans case IN HALF. Stealership fought me on this but in the end they ate it.
All this in 50,000 miles. The extended warranty has more than paid for itself and it runs out soon. I'm done. No more. As you can see by the mileage the truck sits a lot, its my weekend warrior these days. Time to dump it, get a work type rig in a gasser configuration and move on.
