My 25-06 arrived back to me today. It was shipped from Gardiner on 2/14 so it took 8 days to get here.
Last friday I called CS to ask what had been done, the girl put me on hold for a minute or two then said that it had been "muzzled and targeted". I held my tongue and waited.
When I opened the box, the rifle had some sort of goopy stuff on it in spots, like maybe glue--it rubs off with finger pressure. They enclosed a photocopy of the test target, which has been shrunk to about 1/4 size judging by the size of the "holes"; it shows a 3-shot group that would be about an inch or a bit less; the range (100 yds) and "win. 90" is handwritten on the original.
They have obviously done more than a touch-up of the crown since the barrel now locks up tight as a tick and the imprint of the extractor/ejector is now the full width of the extractor, but still a bit off-center. there is absolutely no play in the lockup at all.
Looking at the lug where it is welded to the barrel, it may be that it was trued up somehow. I didn't take any pix, so I can't be certain, but I think that the original lug may have been removed and replaced; looking at the hand-engraved number on the lug it looks different than I remember it--the numbers look deeper as if a surer hand was holding the tool that was used to put the last 3 digits of the S/N on the lug. Also the hand-stoning job that Marcus did on the underlug shelf looks different--wider and more even than when it left here.
I'll report on how it shoots; if it does as good as the target I'll be a very happy man.
Unless it shoots loose again.
