What happened with the guy that made a handi into a 17 Remington? Did it shoot alright? How did it turn out? I must have missed something!

Yep, I've got it.  Recently fitted it to my reciever and have some loads made up, just waiting to get it to the range....

If it helps any mattparlimant, I believe vertical stringing has been traced to nothing more than proper barrel fit on the reciever....<><....

All my Handi's will start to vertical string once the barrel starts to heat up.  Simple solution, put it down and let it compleatelly cool before continuing to shoot.    When working up a load at the range I will shoot three shots then walk out and check my target.  By the time I get back (Old men walk slow) the gun has cooled.  Three more then another walk.  Or I set up multiple targets and shoot more than one gun.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I've also read that vertical stringing can be due to poor latch engagement...

Presume the .17 Remington is from a  17HMR barrel rechambered. How From  rimfire to centrefire? I should know this,  is it simply by putting the barrel onto a centrefire frame?

Yep, you got it.  17 HMR barrel reamed and installed on a different receiver.  Excited to get to shoot it and see how it does.
