I saw one of these barrels for sale at a gun show today. It was a 26" s/s fluted with a muzzle break. The barrel was made by virgin valley custom gunes. I't also had the hanging bar system. It was chambered for the 338 RUM. Don't know alot about this cal. Anyone shoot or know any info on this? I have a 270 weatherby barrel that vvcg built for me and it shoots a hole in a hole

the 338 rum pretty much duplicates 340 weatherby ballistics. the rum case is made from a 404 jefery case there for no belt

I have a browning abolt in 338 RUM, great caliber. I'm getting 225gr Accubonds up to 3140fps out of my 26" barrel. Talk about a long range hammer. Reloading is pretty straightforward. With 180-185gr bullets at 3550fps it would make a real long range lazer for whitetails and step up to 225gr for elk and moose. 250gr TSX at just under 3000fps for bears and bigger.

sorry to double post but ,Thebear_78 what are you getting for 250gr from your 26inch??? .. I have a 338 RUM as well, haven't used it much but i was curious how the ballistics compare to the books.. In the book all of the ballistics are from a 24inch .
