i was in a wal mart today where they had some Remington's and Winchesters marked down to $299. that's right, a Model 700 Rem' ADL Syn' and some Win's model 70's marked down to $299! i was told that 1000 wal marts nationwide are not moving enough firearms and will discontinue their sale at the end of March, 2006. those rifles/shotguns will then be sent to other wal marts.

i did not ask about the Handi's, not seeing one on display. it may be worth your time to call or visit a local walllllllly-world to see what they can do for you on a clearance.

The Remington 700 ADL's are being marked down because Remington has stopped production on them. I know a bunch of people that have been snatching them up. Some say the ADL's have bottom end stocks on them but I dont think they are too bad. The BDL's and CDL's are still being made though. Not sure about the Winchester. Justin

i know they discontinued the ADL Syn'; but that's not behind this clearance. the place i visited today said they only did $8000 worth of firearms business last year. that's why so many (1000 i was told) of the walllllly worlds will be discontinuing firearm sales. there will be other stores in the chain that will continue selling them.

Hopefully this will take some of the stress of the small mom & pop shops and let them live a little longer , because no matter what is said we still need them .

That being said our local MC Sports store has the handi in 270 and 30/06 for $209 +tax , none of the local guys can beat that price .

i admit that for a difference of $20 to $40 per rifle i'd rather buy from the little guy. that only makes sense, because they need to make a living, too, even if they aren't big enough to 'volume-buy' what they sell us.

but nobody i know is marking down Model 700's to $299 right now, and if they've got Handi's in stock, which we all love, they'll be discounted, too, this next month -- i expect.

I bought a Rem 700 30-06 sinthetic at wally world on clearance for $235 a few years back. I did nor really need it but if they were going to sell it for that why not.

hey, when they're "throwing a rifle at you" (isn't that what it is when they're marked down that low?) i say buy one as long as you aint taking it from momma or the kids! a great rifle, some great calibers; what is there to debate? the Handi's will be cleared out, too, where they are in stock at any of those 1000 stores......and my .223 heavy-barrel'd Handi' is a treasure. it has given me Great memories already. that Handi' is one rifle that they can bury with me even if they have to shove it up .............my left nostril! :shock:
