7-30 waters contender
« on: December 06, 2005, 05:59:39 AM »
I am considering buying a 7-30 barrel for the Contender.  Can anyone with knowledge of this combo or cartridge please give me their opinion.  Will be a whitetail rig, maybe coyotes.  Not sure what barrel length or configuration I will go with.  I will be reloading for it. Any thoughts appreciated.

great combo , awsome round
120 gr pill works better for me
than 140 gr. ball
imr powder too.
took a couple of deer 2 ran 25 to 50 yds
 and 2 dropped right there

I have a G-2 action with a 21' stainless tapered bbl. Very satisfied , moderate reciil. Have been shooting 130 gr bt Speer, with H110. But I am going to check out "Lil-Gun", good veloicty, with lower [pressures.  Mack the Knife

I have a 14 inch tc, I can only shoot 1 deer a year unless party hunting and have taken 16 deer in 10 years with 16 shots. The deer have been taken any wheres from 10 yrds to 123 yrds. I have used both 120 grain and 140 bullets and the deer didn't know the differents. If you think I don't I like my 7x30 just try to come take it.
be safe and god bless
