Safe loads for Model 25-5
« on: March 17, 2006, 07:08:49 PM »
I have heard one must be careful not to go to hot a load for model 25-5.  Why is that, it's an N Frame isnt it the same frame as the Model 29?  And how hot would be too hot?  Here we have minimum 500 foot pounds at the muzzle for handgun hunting?  thanks, sherppa

The 25-5 isn't heat treated the same way as the M29s.
Also the holes are slightly bigger so there is a taddy bit less metal.
My M-24 is an "N" but won't take the pressure the M-29 will handle, niether will my 25-2. No sense trying to make a magnum out of the thing.
It ain't what it ain't.
Just follow any good loading manual and you will be fine.
If you need more power simply get a more powerful gun/cartridge.
