I just can't remember which thread I said that at. This is my personal Nessmuk made from the antler of a huge 10 pointer I shot 3 years ago.
It differs from the original in that it has a horn spacer, a copper pin in the tang and a ricasso. I need the spacer since I ream out all the pith from the tang area and fill that with fiberglas resin when I'm putting it together.
There's a big glue hole there that the horn spacer hides, but it creates a rock solid bond between the antler and the blade. The pin adds a bit more rigidity to the tang; not that it needs it. Besides I like the looks. The ricasso is there, because I like ricasso's. Blade is from cryo'd 154CM, flatground from 1/8"x 1 1/2" stock. The blade is 1 1/4"inches at the ricasso and 1 1/2"at the 'Hump'. Five inches long. Whole knife is 10 3/4"long and weighs 7 oz. For comparsion, I've includes a pic of a Nessmuk full tang I"m making for a customer that's almost done. Needs a final polish and sharpened after I do the sheath. Knife is same length, but ground out of 1/8"D-2. Handle is ironwood and the trim is N/S. This is the last one I'm doing in 1/8"stock. The other two I'm working on are from 3/32" stock, which makes for a thin, sharp blade.
