I was at another forum the other day and saw a number of posts about bore buttons aka "wonder wads". I use them under everything but it seems a good number of shooters don't. For me it has been the key to more shots between cleanings. It alows me to put extra lube on a patch without dampining the charge keeping the fowling soft, and I belive it has helped to shrink my group size too. Yeah it adds to the cost of shooting cause they sure don't give em away but to me they are worth it. So how many of you guys use them.?.........Jim
i punch my own from felt and soak them in crisco in micro-wave oven, let them dry a day or to.if you are shooting light loads, wads are most likely not necessary but on heavy loads, yes.punch set i use i got from harbor frieght for 9 dollars.you use 1/2 inch size for .50 cal.felt cost me abot 3 dollars and i punched out 500 so far and gave them out free at shooting range. if you dont shoot a lot, just buy the wads for 100 in a jar. but, i like to make my own and tinker. i do think they keep bore cleaner than not using them.and as said here you can make your patchs with more lube and not worry about getting powder wet,so your patch/ball go in much easier. also ,CAYUGAG gave me this idea ,it was not mine on making wads.i am getting back into roundball shooting again with my .50 cal hawkins t/c .take care.
