Big "O"

Skipper,
How the trip to the big "O"?  I know it must have been nice to get out of all that cold weather you folks been having up you way.
We leave tomorrow morning for a few days at Lake Fork.  We thought our weather would be a little better, but had a cold front pass through yesterday.  It got down in the 20s last night, should do the same tonight, but during the day it's warming up to around 55-60 degrees.  I suspect the water temperture will be running in the high 30s, mid 40s.  Should be just right for catching that good ole big one.
We will return late Saturday night, hope I can give you a good report next week.

Got back late Saturday.  We caught a lot of fish, though we didn't get the size we have got in past years, we caught more fish than most years.  The total on the 5 days was close to 80 fish.  We had several 5's and 6's and the biggest was 8-6.  We dealt with an east wind all week long except Thursday which was the best day of the week.

They had 3 pro tournaments the 3 previous weeks, and I suppose that had a lot to do with the size deal.  The wall we were fishing had been hammered for a solid month by 6 or 8 hundred pros.

Good luck on Fork, let us know how it goes.

There's Fishing and then there's Bass Fishing
Its kinda like the difference between Sandlot Baseball and Playing on the Team.
The difference is Practice

We had a fairly good trip to Fork.  Caught quite a few fish but only had one over eight and it was caught by my friend from Arkansas.

The weather kicked our butts.  It was cold early, but would warm up to the mid-fifties during the day.  But the wind blew pretty bad.  Fork is just a flooded forest.  There are thousands of large trees broke of at the water line, lots of floaters, most just below the surface all over the lake.  I'm no "wossie", but I don't like getting with high winds and taking the chance of a big white cap slamming me down on one of the stumps.

Fork is like most of the lakes in this part of the world.  They didn't do much clearing prior to flooding the area.  But ther is lots of cover and when the weather coorperates, there are plenty of big bass to be caught.

I'm going to try a little salt water fishing shortly.  I haven't been for many years but am looking forward to giving it another shot.  We are getting a group of about 12 to make the trip, the price was right and sounds like it will be fun.  At first we had planned for 12-18 March, but when we found out that is during spring break and all the college kids will be in town we changed our minds and slid the trip to the following week-end.

I like catching dem basses, but it really don't matter what dey is long as dey stretch da line.
