Handi verses Ultra
« on: April 07, 2006, 04:08:03 PM »
Hey Guys

I have been looking at the Handi 25-06 SB2-256 and the Ultra 25-06 SB2-806 They both have 26in. barrels. As far as I can tell the only difference is the Ultra has the laminated wood. Is there something else that I am missing?

Thank you for your time  :D

That's about it, the Handi has New England Firearms on the frame and the Ultra has Harrington & Richardson on it. The finish on some of my Ultras is a bit smoother on the barrels and the frame appears to be polished better, but that could just be the difference in year to year production, dunno for sure, it's not a consistent difference. Just get the one you like best!!

It may just be mine...BFWIW..go with the Ultra if you can get it..every Ultra I've owned has always been outstanding..both in fit & finish..and in accuracy..and I haven't had a lick of trouble with them..not so with the standard Handi's I've owned..nothing that couldn't be fixed quite easily..but never-the-less..I just had much better luck with them.I prefere the laminated stocks over the pallet wood ones as well...and will save you in the long run if you want a decent set..
