What happen to my post ?? (regarding a scope for a .338 wm)
« on: February 17, 2006, 03:27:12 AM »
here is the summary of my old post, Im getting a new browning BAR in .338 win mag, Looking for a scope, but my budget is really tight....

Im lookin at the bushnell banner (around $80-85 and I think I can handle that) its 4-12X40 and I think it comes with a rangefinder (which is what Im looking for),

is this a good scope ? do you guys have other recomendations for that price range ? can this scope handle the recoil of the .338 wm (even tho its an autoloader, the recoil is less than its -bolt brother)

thanks[/b]

We're having a bit of a problem with disappearing threads lately. It mostly seems tied to folks doing a double post and then going back in and deleting one of them. Not sure if that's what happened or not but suspect it is.

All that's needed when it happens is for anyone who has posted to it to just click on their own name when it appears as a clickable link. That is any time you are listed unter the AUTHOR colum in an index or since it's your name at the bottom of the Forums Index under the list of members currently logged in. Then click on the see all posts by option and bring the thread back up. Post to it and it will again become visible. I did it for you this time.

It really drives me nuts when I see people spending a lot of money on a rifle, yet skimp on the optics - especially when optics are just as important, if not MORE important, than the rifle itself.

Please don't put on a bushnell banner on such a fine rifle.  At the very least, please spend a little extra money and get an elite 3200 or Nikon Buckmaster.

I agree.  BAR is a fine rifle that is beyond many folks budget.  So at least get a good quality scope for it.    I put a $700.00 Shepard scope on a $167.00 Handi-rifle.  Optics are very important.  If you can't see it you can't shoot it.  A cheap scope cost me the biggest Mulie I ever saw, my wife could see a tree limb between me and the deer with her Bushnell Elite, I could not see the limb with my Bushnell Banner.  I shot the limb, deer got away.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
