Here in eastern Mt. we do a little p.dog shooting, too. I shoot them with an assortment of Contenders; some .222, .223, .22-.250, and .25-06 rifles, also. I think the .22 cal. Speer 52 gr. HP is the most devastating bullet. A center hit promotes a lively hydraulic splattering. I think whoever coined the phrase "Red Mist Society" must have been watching my Win. Heavy Varmint .22-.250 when it was shooting those Speer 52 gr. HP's. But the coolest shot was two yrs. ago when a friend was trying out his new video camera and got a shot of one I shot with a Rem. .222 and a
50 gr. SX at about 175 yds. She was a big ol' hog, looking straight at me when I held on her neck and touched off. You oughta see that film! Her body fell flat. But her head flew right off her shoulders and bounced across the prairie. We were gonna send a copy of the video to Animal Planet but figured they'd see the postmark and bring a team of animal lovers up here to boycott us.
